What ships and estimated mature size 

Includes one live Tradescantia Silver Plus in a 4-inch nursery pot and one white BASEL 4.7-inch decorative planter. Pot diameter is not plant height. Plant size, fullness, leaf color and trailing length vary naturally. With suitable care, stems may trail approximately 12–24 inches or more; pruning, light and growing conditions influence the final size.

Included planter and setup

The white BASEL planter has a 4.7-inch opening and no drainage hole. Check the nursery pot's actual width and height against the planter interior. Keep the plant in its draining nursery pot, remove it for watering, let it drain completely, and empty collected water before returning it to the decorative planter. Only the white BASEL planter is included in this version.

Care guide

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light to maintain strong color and compact growth. Acclimate gradually to gentle morning sun and protect from harsh afternoon sun.
  • Water: Water thoroughly when the upper inch of mix feels dry, then let excess water drain. Avoid keeping roots soggy or leaving water inside the outer planter.
  • Soil and drainage: Use an airy, freely draining houseplant mix in a pot with drainage holes. Our Rich Houseplant Soil Blend is an optional additional supply, sold separately.
  • Temperature and humidity: Keep in comfortable indoor temperatures away from frost, cold drafts and hot vents. Ordinary indoor humidity is generally suitable; provide airflow rather than leaving foliage constantly wet.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth according to label directions. Our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer is sold separately. Avoid doubling up on fertilizer in an already-fed mix and reduce feeding during slow growth.
  • Pruning and maintenance: Pinch or trim stems just above a leaf node to encourage branching. Remove damaged leaves and inspect regularly for pests. Stems can be fragile, so handle gently.
  • Repotting: Repot into a slightly larger draining pot when roots crowd the container. Recheck the decorative planter's interior fit after repotting.
  • Propagation: Healthy stem cuttings with several nodes can be rooted in water or moist potting mix. Remove lower leaves before placing the node in water or mix.
  • Troubleshooting: Long gaps between leaves or fading color may indicate insufficient light. Soft stems and persistently wet mix suggest excess moisture. Dry, crisp leaves warrant checking watering, strong sun and hot drafts.

Pet safety: Tradescantia sap can irritate skin and may cause irritation or stomach upset if chewed. Keep away from pets and children and wash hands after pruning.

The live plant and white BASEL planter are included. Additional soil, fertilizer and styling accessories are optional and sold separately.
