Tradescantia zebrina ‘Silver Plus’, 6-Inch Hanging Pot
Let the shimmering silver stripes and deep purple undersides of Tradescantia zebrina ‘Silver Plus’ spill from a hanging basket. Its green-edged leaves catch bright, indirect light, bringing movement and color to a shelf or window area without needing a decorative planter.

Care guide
- Light: Bright indirect light helps maintain the silver and purple coloring. A little gentle morning sun may be suitable, but shield it from harsh afternoon sun.
- Water: Water when the upper inch of potting mix feels dry, then allow excess to drain. Avoid leaving the hanging pot sitting in water; adjust frequency for your light and season.
- Soil: Use a loose, well-draining houseplant mix in a pot with drainage. Ready to repot? Shop our Rich Houseplant Soil Blend, hand-blended in small batches and sold separately.
- Temperature and humidity: Keep in normal warm indoor conditions, away from frost and drying heat vents. Average household humidity is usually fine.
- Feeding: Feed lightly with a balanced slow-release houseplant fertilizer during active spring and summer growth if needed, following its label directions. Ready to feed? Shop our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents, sold separately. Reduce feeding in winter, and pause feeding while growth is inactive or during extreme heat or cold.
- Pruning: Pinch or trim long stems to encourage a fuller basket. Older stems can thin over time, and cuttings can refresh the pot.
- Repotting: Repot when roots crowd the container, choosing a pot with drainage only slightly larger than the current pot and fresh, well-draining mix. Handle trailing stems gently and keep the original planting depth.
- Propagation: Root stem cuttings with nodes in water or moist potting mix.
