Syngonium White Butterfly, also known as an arrowhead plant, brings fresh green and creamy white arrow-shaped leaves to a shelf, plant stand, or hanging display. Its natural leaf pattern varies from plant to plant. As it grows, stems can trail or climb with support.

Points of interest

  • Arrowhead-shaped leaves with green margins, creamy centers, and natural variegated patterning.
  • New leaves may open lighter and develop stronger green contrast as they mature.
  • Flexible growth habit that can trail from a hanging pot or climb a support.
  • Regular pruning can keep the foliage fuller and more compact.

Characteristics and size

This plant is supplied approximately 16–18 inches tall in a 6-inch hanging pot. Individual plants vary in fullness, stem length, leaf size, and variegation. With good care and support, Syngonium can mature to approximately 3–6 feet indoors, sometimes longer when allowed to climb or trail. Pruning can manage its size.

What you receive

One live Syngonium White Butterfly in a 6-inch hanging pot, approximately 16–18 inches tall at the time of listing. Product photos show the variety and general quality; the exact plant shipped may differ. Natural variations in shape, color, leaf pattern, fullness, and clustering are normal. Minor cosmetic blemishes or leaf loss can occur during handling and shipping. Mature size, trailing length, and variegation depend on growing conditions and pruning. Decorative planters and furnishings shown in styled photos are not included.

Optional decorative planters

Pair it with the black BASEL 6-inch planter, white BASEL 6-inch planter, black Oslo 6-inch planter, or white Oslo 6-inch planter. Decorative planters are sold separately and not included with the plant.

Care guide

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light for growth and leaf pattern. Gentle morning sun can be helpful, but protect leaves from intense afternoon sun, which may scorch pale areas.
  • Water: Water thoroughly when the top 1–2 inches of potting mix feels dry, then let excess drain. Avoid constantly wet soil or standing water. Water less often in cooler, lower-light conditions.
  • Soil: Use a loose, well-draining indoor mix amended with perlite, pumice, or fine orchid bark in a pot with drainage holes. Shop our Rich Houseplant Soil Blend, hand-blended in small batches and sold separately; amend as needed for moisture and airflow.
  • Humidity: Average household humidity is usually tolerated; moderate humidity around 40–60% can support healthier foliage. Maintain good airflow.
  • Temperature: Keep warm, ideally around 65–85°F, and protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 55–60°F.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth according to fertilizer label directions. Shop our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents, sold separately. Reduce or pause feeding during winter or inactivity and extreme heat or cold. Do not fertilize dry soil, stressed plants, or newly repotted plants.
  • Pruning: Trim long or sparse stems just above a node with clean shears to encourage fuller growth. Remove yellow or damaged leaves. Guide stems onto a support or allow them to trail.
  • Repotting: Check roots every 1–2 years. When crowded, move up one pot size into fresh airy mix, maintaining the original planting depth.
  • Propagation: Take a healthy stem cutting with at least one node and root it in water, damp sphagnum moss, perlite, or light potting mix. Keep warm in bright indirect light while roots develop.

Pet safety

Syngonium contains insoluble calcium oxalates and is considered toxic if chewed or ingested by cats, dogs, or people. Keep away from pets and children who may nibble it. Contact a veterinarian or medical professional if ingestion occurs.
