Mini Monstera (Rhaphidophora tetrasperma) brings tropical character to a bright indoor space with green leaves that develop distinctive splits. Despite its common name, it is a Rhaphidophora, not a true Monstera. Its climbing stems can be trained along a trellis or pole as it grows, creating a leafy vertical display.

Points of interest

  • Green foliage with a mix of whole juvenile leaves and split leaves as growth develops.
  • A climbing habit suited to a trellis or moss pole.
  • Leaf shape and the extent of splitting vary with maturity and growing conditions.
  • Photos show representative plants; leaf count, size, and fullness vary naturally.

Current and mature size

You receive one rooted plant in a 4-inch plastic nursery pot. The plant is a young specimen, not a mature vine. With suitable light and support, stems can grow several feet long indoors; pruning and support size help keep the display manageable. Mature foliage can be larger than the leaves on the plant you receive.

Decorative pots, supports, and accessories shown in styled photos are not included and are sold separately.

Optional BASEL planters

Pair with the White BASEL 4.7-Inch Planter or Black BASEL 4.7-Inch Planter, each sold separately. Compare your nursery pot's actual outside width with the 4.7-inch opening to confirm fit. These planters have no drainage holes. For cover-pot use, remove the nursery pot to water and let it drain before returning it. Avoid leaving standing water inside the decorative planter.

Care guide

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Protect from harsh midday sun and introduce any gentle direct light gradually. Low light can slow growth and produce stretched stems.
  • Water: Allow the top layer of mix to dry before watering thoroughly. Let excess water drain completely and empty the saucer. Avoid constantly soggy roots or prolonged complete drying; adjust watering to light, temperature, and season.
  • Soil: Use an airy, well-draining houseplant mix in a pot with drainage. Shop our Rich Houseplant Soil Blend, sold separately. Maintain root aeration and add suitable bark or perlite if needed for your growing conditions.
  • Feeding: During active spring and summer growth, feed with a slow-release fertilizer. Shop our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents, sold separately. Follow its label, avoid overfeeding, and skip feeding while growth is paused or the plant is stressed by extreme heat or cold.
  • Temperature and humidity: Keep in warm, stable indoor conditions away from cold drafts and heating vents. Moderate to higher humidity supports growth; provide airflow and use a humidifier if needed rather than relying on occasional misting.
  • Support and maintenance: Guide stems onto a support without forcing them, wipe leaves gently, and remove dried foliage. Prune elongated growth with clean tools. Repot when roots outgrow the container, using a modestly larger pot with drainage.

Pet safety: Rhaphidophora tetrasperma contains irritating calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic to pets if chewed or ingested. Keep out of reach.
