Reverse-variegated Hoya kerrii is a living vine with thick, heart-shaped leaves marked in green and creamy yellow. The variegation differs from leaf to leaf, bringing warm color to a bright hanging display. This is a multi-leaf vining plant, not a single rooted heart leaf; its leaf count, vine length, and pattern vary naturally.

Size and what ships

One live reverse-variegated Hoya kerrii vine in a 6-inch nursery hanging pot with its hanger. Exact height and trailing length at shipment vary. Given time and suitable care, stems can extend and may be trained to climb or trail; that later length is not guaranteed at delivery.

Care guide

  • Light: Bright indirect light is best for growth and variegation. Gentle morning sun can be useful after acclimation; protect leaves from harsh afternoon sun.
  • Water: Let a substantial portion of the mix dry between thorough waterings, then drain freely. Thick leaves store some water; do not keep the mix continuously moist, especially in cooler months.
  • Soil: Use a chunky, airy, fast-draining mix with ingredients such as bark and perlite in a draining pot.
  • Humidity and temperature: Normal to moderately humid indoor air generally works; keep warm and away from freezing drafts and hot vents.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly with diluted balanced houseplant fertilizer during active spring and summer growth, roughly monthly if needed; reduce in winter.
  • Pruning and support: Trim leggy vines just above a node to shape the plant. Let stems trail from the hanger or provide a trellis as they grow.
  • Repotting: Repot when roots crowd the container, moving only one pot size up into an airy mix and keeping drainage.
  • Propagation: Stem cuttings need at least one node to root and grow; a leaf alone does not reliably make a new vine.

Pet safety

Hoya kerrii is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, though chewing any plant may cause stomach upset.

Optional decorative display

The plant ships in its 6-inch hanging nursery pot. The black Oslo 6-inch planter shown in a styled photo is sold separately; the hanger can be removed temporarily for tabletop styling.  Furnishings shown are not included.
