Scindapsus treubii ‘Moonlight,’ sometimes sold as a silver pothos, brings a quiet metallic sheen to a bright shelf. Its thick, elongated oval leaves show a satin silver-blue cast over green. This young plant grows slowly at first, then its stems can trail or climb a support as they lengthen.

Points of interest and size

  • One live young Scindapsus treubii ‘Moonlight’ in a 4-inch nursery grow pot; current leaf count and fullness vary naturally.
  • Estimated mature indoor vine length: about 3–6 feet with time and suitable care; trim to manage its length.
  • Thick silvery-blue green foliage catches filtered light with a satin finish.

Care guide

  • Light: Give bright indirect or filtered light for healthy growth and silver coloring. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sun.
  • Water: Let the upper half of the potting mix dry before watering thoroughly, then drain excess. Avoid soggy roots, especially in cooler months when growth slows.
  • Soil: Use a chunky, airy aroid mix with bark and perlite in a container with drainage holes.
  • Humidity and temperature: Moderate household humidity is suitable, with some extra humidity helpful for new leaves. Keep warm and away from cold drafts.
  • Feeding: During active spring and summer growth, use balanced houseplant fertilizer diluted according to its label every 4–6 weeks; reduce or pause in winter.
  • Pruning: Trim a long stem above a node to shape the plant and encourage branching; guide stems to trail or climb a support. Remove yellow or damaged leaves with clean scissors.
  • Repotting: Check roots every 1–2 years. If crowded, move up one pot size in fresh airy mix and keep the original planting depth.
  • Propagation: Root a healthy stem cutting with at least one node in water or lightly moist propagation mix in warm indirect light. Pot once roots are established; a detached leaf without a node cannot form a new vine.
