Pink Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera) brings soft seasonal color to your indoor collection with pink blooms and flattened, segmented green stems. Established and fully rooted in its nursery pot, this tropical holiday cactus makes a thoughtful living gift. Its somewhat trailing habit becomes especially attractive in a basket display as it develops.

Points of interest

  • Pink flowers contrast beautifully with rich green stems.
  • Established and fully rooted in a 2-inch growing pot.
  • Young upright stems become more arching and trailing with age, making established plants excellent for basket culture.
  • Commonly sold as Christmas cactus or holiday cactus; pointed stem edges are characteristic of Thanksgiving-type Schlumbergera.
  • The grower lists November and December as the flowering season. Bloom timing varies with light, temperature, and growing conditions; buds or open flowers are not guaranteed on arrival.
  • Live arrival guaranteed.

What ships and estimated mature size

You receive a live Pink Christmas Cactus growing in a 2-inch nursery pot, approximately 6 inches tall. Photos show representative plants in different flowering stages; size, shape, fullness, and flowering stage vary naturally. Decorative pots, baskets, and other styling props are not included.

Estimated mature size is approximately 6–12 inches tall and 12–24 inches wide, with arching stems that can extend beyond the pot over time. This is an estimate for an established plant, not its shipping size; growth varies with care and conditions.

Optional planter pairing

A classic terracotta pot with a drainage hole makes a lovely styling option. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the root ball, rather than a much larger container. Terracotta and other decorative pots shown in styled photos are separate purchases and are not included with the plant.

Care guide

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light or filtered sun. Protect from strong midday sun, especially in hot weather. A sheltered, lightly shaded patio can work during warm, frost-free weather.
  • Water: Water when the upper inch of soil feels dry, then let excess water drain completely. Keep moisture more even while buds and flowers develop, without leaving the roots soggy. Reduce watering after flowering and never leave the pot sitting in water.
  • Soil: Use an airy, organic potting mix with good drainage. Our Rich Houseplant Soil Blend is an optional organic potting base; add perlite if needed to maintain excellent aeration and adjust watering to the mix. Soil is sold separately.
  • Temperature and humidity: Moderate indoor temperatures around 60–70°F suit holiday cacti. Protect from frost, heating vents, and abrupt environmental changes. Avoid hot, dry locations.
  • Feeding: Feed during active spring and summer growth. If choosing our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents, follow its directions for the actual pot size and do not combine it with another feeding program. Avoid adding more fertilizer during the autumn bud-setting period. Fertilizer is sold separately.
  • Encouraging flowers: In autumn, provide bright daytime light, cooler nights around 55–65°F, and at least 13 hours of uninterrupted darkness each night. Keep conditions steady once buds form.
  • Pruning: After flowering, trim at the joints between stem segments to encourage branching and maintain shape.
  • Repotting: Keep somewhat pot-bound. Repot only when needed, usually about every three years, preferably in spring, using a draining container only slightly larger than the previous one.
  • Propagation: Take a healthy cutting of 3–5 stem segments. Let the cut end callus for a day or two, then place it in a well-drained rooting mix in bright, indirect light.

Pet safety: Schlumbergera holiday cacti are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, and young children.
