Philodendron Cordatum Neon brightens an indoor shelf with chartreuse, heart-shaped leaves and a naturally vining habit. This compact starter plant adds a lively splash of yellow-green color to a bright room, with stems that can trail over time or climb when given support.

Points of interest

  • Heart-shaped leaves in luminous lime and golden-green tones.
  • New growth and older leaves may differ in shade.
  • Vining growth can trail from a raised display or climb a separately purchased support.
  • A compact 4-inch plant that can develop into a longer, fuller display with care.

Current and estimated mature size

You receive one rooted plant in a 4-inch nursery pot. Leaf count, vine length, and fullness vary naturally; photos are representative. No shipping height is guaranteed. Established vines can extend beyond 3 feet over time under favorable conditions, but this is vine length rather than a guaranteed upright height. Pruning, support, and growing conditions determine the eventual display.

Optional decorative planters

Consider our White 4.7-Inch BASEL or Black 4.7-Inch BASEL for a compact tabletop display. Decorative planters and climbing supports are sold separately; the plant ships in its nursery pot. Compare the nursery pot's actual outside rim diameter and height with the planter's 4.7-inch opening before choosing a cover pot. BASEL has no drainage hole; retain a removable inner pot with drainage rather than planting directly into it.

Care guide

  • Light: Provide bright indirect light to support healthy growth and leaf color. Avoid harsh direct sun, which may scorch leaves. Lower light can slow growth.
  • Water: Let the upper layer of potting mix dry before watering thoroughly. Drain completely and keep the root zone from remaining soggy. Avoid prolonged complete drying; check actual soil moisture rather than using a fixed schedule.
  • Soil: Use a loose, well-draining houseplant mix in a pot with drainage holes. Our Rich Houseplant Soil Blend, sold separately, can be amended with perlite or bark as needed for aeration. Avoid dense or waterlogged soil.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active spring and summer growth. Our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents is sold separately. Follow its label for container plants, avoid combining fertilizer schedules, and pause feeding when growth slows or the plant is stressed.
  • Temperature and humidity: Keep warm, ideally around 65–80°F, away from cold drafts and hot dry vents. Typical indoor humidity is often suitable; moderate humidity with gentle airflow can help. Use a humidifier if needed rather than relying on misting.
  • Growth and maintenance: Give stems room to trail or gently guide them onto a separately purchased support. Trim with clean tools to maintain shape, remove damaged leaves, and inspect for pests. Repot when root growth warrants it into a modestly larger draining pot.
  • Cover-pot watering: Remove the nursery pot from BASEL before watering, let it drain fully, empty any collected water, and return it only after drainage stops.

Pet safety: Philodendron is toxic to cats and dogs if chewed or eaten because it contains irritating calcium oxalate crystals. Keep out of reach of pets.
