Watermelon Peperomia, 4-Inch Pot
Watermelon Peperomia (Peperomia argyreia) earns its name from rounded, slightly pointed leaves with alternating green and silvery stripes that resemble a watermelon rind. Individual leaves rise on slender reddish petioles, giving the plant a compact, airy shape for a desk or shelf.

- Leaf pattern, size and fullness vary naturally.
Care guide
- Light: Bright, filtered or indirect light supports clear leaf patterning. Protect from harsh direct afternoon sun; very low light may slow growth.
- Water: Let the upper 1–2 inches of soil dry before watering thoroughly, then allow excess to drain. Avoid keeping the mix constantly wet, which can damage roots and stems; water less frequently in winter.
- Soil: Use a loose, airy, well-draining indoor mix, such as potting soil with added perlite or fine orchid bark, in a pot with drainage holes.
- Humidity and temperature: Average to moderately humid indoor air is suitable. Keep warm, ideally around 65–80°F, away from cold drafts and direct heating vents.
- Feeding: Feed lightly during active spring and summer growth with a balanced houseplant fertilizer diluted according to its label, about monthly. Pause or reduce in winter.
- Pruning: Remove yellow or damaged leaves at the base with clean scissors. Trim spent flower spikes if they appear; major shaping is rarely needed.
- Repotting: Check roots every 1–2 years and move up only one pot size if crowded. Use fresh airy mix, maintain planting depth and avoid an oversized pot that holds too much moisture.
- Propagation: Healthy leaves with their petioles or short stem cuttings can root in a lightly moist, airy mix in warm indirect light. Keep the medium gently moist rather than soggy while new growth develops.
