Neoregelia ‘Donger’ Bromeliad, 4-Inch Pot
Neoregelia ‘Donger’ brings a compact, architectural rosette to a bright shelf or tabletop. Its leaves may develop brighter pink tones under suitable warm, bright conditions; color varies by light, season, and individual plant.
Points of interest and size
- One live Neoregelia ‘Donger’ in a 4-inch nursery grow pot. Rosette width, leaf count, and color vary naturally.
- It grows as a low rosette rather than a tall tree. With maturity it can form offsets around the parent, gradually widening its display.
Care guide
- Light: Give bright indirect light or gentle morning sun. Introduce direct light gradually; protect from scorching afternoon sun. Brighter suitable light may encourage pink coloration.
- Water: Use room-temperature water. Keep a little fresh water in the central leaf cup during warm active growth, replacing and flushing it regularly rather than letting it stagnate. Water the potting mix when it begins to dry; drain thoroughly and do not leave the pot standing in water. In cool, dim conditions, reduce water in both cup and mix.
- Soil: Use a loose, fast-draining bromeliad or orchid-bark blend in a pot with drainage.
- Humidity and temperature: Moderate indoor humidity and warm temperatures suit it. Avoid cold drafts and freezing conditions; outdoor placement is for warm, sheltered weather.
- Feeding: In spring and summer, use a very dilute bromeliad or balanced fertilizer according to its label, sparingly; avoid fertilizer buildup in the cup.
- Pruning: Remove dry or damaged leaves with clean scissors. After a mature rosette flowers, it slowly declines while pups can grow at its base.
- Repotting: Refresh the airy mix when it breaks down or offsets crowd the pot; avoid burying the center of the rosette.
- Propagation: Separate an offset once it is well developed and has roots, then pot it in a small draining container. New offsets are not guaranteed at shipment.
Pet safety
Neoregelia bromeliads are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, but keep ornamental plants out of reach of pets that chew them.
