Lucky Bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana) pairs upright green stalks with fresh leafy shoots for a bright desk or shelf. Traditionally associated with good luck and prosperity, this six-stalk arrangement makes a thoughtful living gift. It is a dracaena, not a true bamboo, and stalk height, leaf arrangement and fullness vary naturally.

Points of interest and size

  • One six-stalk arrangement in a 4-inch nursery grow pot.
  • A young tabletop plant when shipped; exact height varies.
  • With time, leafy shoots can extend several feet under suitable conditions. Mature size depends on growing conditions and pruning.

What you receive

One live six-stalk Lucky Bamboo arrangement planted in potting mix in its 4-inch nursery grow pot. Decorative planters and furnishings are not included.

Optional decorative planters

Pair it with the black BASEL 4.7-inch planter or white BASEL 4.7-inch planter. Decorative planters are sold separately and not included with the plant.

Care guide

  • Light: Bright indirect light supports healthy growth. Lower light is tolerated but slows growth. Avoid harsh direct sun.
  • Water: This arrangement is planted in potting mix. Keep the mix lightly moist, allowing the surface to begin drying between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain excess. Avoid soggy roots, standing water and prolonged complete drying. Reduce watering in cooler, darker conditions.
  • Water quality: Use rainwater, distilled water or suitable low-mineral filtered water where tap-water minerals or fluoride cause brown tips. Ordinary filters may not remove fluoride.
  • Soil: Use a loose, well-draining houseplant mix with perlite. Shop our Rich Houseplant Soil Blend, hand-blended in small batches and sold separately; amend with perlite as needed for aeration. Use a nursery pot with drainage holes.
  • Temperature and humidity: Warm household conditions are suitable. Keep away from cold drafts and hot, drying vents. Typical indoor humidity is generally adequate.
  • Feeding: Feed sparingly during active growth, following fertilizer label directions. Shop our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents, sold separately. Apply only to the potting medium; do not dissolve slow-release granules for water culture. Reduce or pause feeding during inactivity and extreme heat or cold. Avoid feeding stressed or newly repotted plants.
  • Pruning: Remove fully yellow leaves and trim leafy shoots with clean tools to control height. Cut stalk tops do not lengthen again; new growth develops from shoots. Check any ties as stalks grow and loosen them if they become tight.
  • Repotting: Repot when roots crowd the container, using a modestly larger pot and fresh airy mix. Keep stalks at their original planting depth.
  • Propagation: Healthy leafy stem cuttings with a node can root in clean water or lightly moist airy medium. A leaf alone will not produce a new stalk. Avoid taking excessive cuttings from a young arrangement.

Pet safety

Not safe for pets. Keep away from cats, dogs and children, and do not allow leaves or stalks to be eaten.
