Pet & Child Safety
Ficus Benjamina contains a milky sap that is toxic if ingested by pets or people and can irritate skin on contact. Keep it out of reach of pets and children, and consider wearing gloves when pruning or handling cuttings.
Care Guide
Light: Provide bright, filtered light or partial sun. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Watering: Water thoroughly when the top 1–2 inches of soil begin to feel dry, then allow excess water to drain. Keep the root ball from becoming completely dry, but do not leave the soil soggy or the pot standing in water. Consistent watering is important because sudden changes can cause leaf drop.
Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix.
Temperature: Keep between 60 and 90°F. Protect the plant from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Humidity: Humidity above 45% is beneficial. A humidifier can help in dry indoor environments.
Feeding: Fertilize during spring and summer according to the fertilizer's directions. A slow-release fertilizer applied in spring can provide nutrition through the summer.
Pruning: Prune as needed to maintain its shape and remove dead or damaged branches. Late winter or early spring is ideal. Wear gloves to avoid contact with the sap.
Propagation: Propagate from stem cuttings rooted in water or moist soil.
What You’ll Receive
You will receive one live Ficus Benjamina approximately 2 to 3 feet tall in an 8-inch nursery pot. Natural variations in height, shape, leaf color, branching, and fullness are normal for living plants. The plant you receive will be similar to, but not exactly the same as, the plants shown in the photos.
Optional decorative planter
The black Basel 10.6-inch planter shown in a styled photo is not included with the Ficus and is sold separately. Explore the black Basel planter. Its opening measures 10.6 inches, but nursery-pot dimensions vary; measure the Ficus pot before ordering. The decorative planter has no drainage hole, so remove the nursery pot to water and let it drain before returning it.
