Homalomena ‘Queen of Hearts’ brings lush green texture to a bright indoor space. Its broad, pointed leaves have a gently ridged surface and grow on upright stalks in a leafy clump. Place it where you can enjoy the changing shades of green as new leaves unfurl.

Points of interest

  • Broad green leaves with pronounced, gently rippling veins.
  • Upright, clumping growth rather than a trailing vine.
  • A leafy accent for a bright room with filtered light.
  • Leaf shape, fullness, and shades of green vary naturally.

Current and mature size

You receive one rooted plant in a 6-inch plastic nursery pot. The source describes representative plants approximately 12–16 inches tall; individual shipping height and fullness vary. Mature indoor growth may approach approximately 2–3 feet tall under suitable conditions, with spread influenced by container size and care. These are estimates, not guaranteed dimensions.

Optional decorative planters

For a coordinated indoor display, consider our White BASEL, Black BASEL, White OSLO, or Black OSLO planters. Decorative planters are sold separately; the plant ships in its nursery pot. Each planter has a 6.3-inch opening, but nursery-pot rims and shapes vary, so check the actual pot's widest diameter and height before choosing a fit. BASEL and OSLO have no drainage holes and should be used as removable cover pots, not for direct planting.

Care guide

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Filter strong direct sunlight to prevent scorch. Avoid a dark corner; slower growth and smaller new leaves can indicate insufficient light.
  • Water: Keep the mix lightly and evenly moist, not soggy. Water when the upper layer begins to dry, then drain thoroughly. Avoid letting the entire root ball dry out repeatedly. Check the soil rather than following a rigid calendar, and reduce frequency when growth slows. Never leave the nursery pot standing in collected water.
  • Soil: Use a moisture-retentive but well-draining houseplant mix and a nursery pot with drainage holes. Shop our Rich Houseplant Soil Blend, sold separately. Avoid compacted soil that stays waterlogged.
  • Feeding: During active spring and summer growth, feed lightly with a slow-release fertilizer. Shop our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents, sold separately. Follow its label, avoid overfeeding, and skip feeding while growth is paused or during extreme heat or cold.
  • Temperature: Keep in a warm indoor space, away from cold drafts, air-conditioning vents, and sudden temperature swings. Protect from frost.
  • Humidity: Moderate to higher indoor humidity helps maintain leaf quality. If the room is dry, use a humidifier rather than relying on misting for lasting humidity. Maintain gentle airflow and avoid keeping foliage constantly wet.
  • Maintenance: Wipe dust from leaves with a soft damp cloth. Remove fully yellowed leaves with clean tools. Repot when roots outgrow the container, using fresh mix and a modestly larger pot with drainage.
  • Cover-pot watering: Lift the nursery pot out of any BASEL or OSLO planter before watering. Let it drain fully, empty collected water, and return it only after drainage stops.

Pet safety: Toxic to pets if chewed or ingested. Keep out of reach.
