Points of interest and size
- One live Dracaena Craigii Compacta in a 4-inch nursery grow pot; current leaf arrangement and fullness vary.
- Estimated mature indoor height: about 2–4 feet over many years with suitable care; its growth is slow and can be managed by pruning.

Care guide
- Light: Give bright indirect or filtered light; it can tolerate lower light but will grow more slowly. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sun.
- Water: Let the upper half of the mix dry before watering thoroughly, then drain excess. Avoid soggy roots and water less frequently in winter.
- Soil: Use a loose, well-draining indoor mix with perlite in a pot with drainage holes. Ready to repot? Shop our Rich Houseplant Soil Blend, hand-blended in small batches and sold separately. Add perlite as needed to keep the mix loose and well-draining.
- Humidity and temperature: Average household humidity is suitable. Keep warm and away from cold drafts and drying vents.
- Feeding: Feed lightly during active spring and summer growth with a balanced slow-release houseplant fertilizer according to its label directions. Ready to feed? Shop our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents, sold separately. Reduce or pause feeding in winter, and skip feeding while growth is paused or during extreme heat or cold.
- Pruning: Remove yellow or damaged leaves with clean scissors. On an older, tall cane, prune above a node to encourage new shoots, but leave the compact young crown intact.
- Repotting: Check roots every 2–3 years. If crowded, move up one pot size in fresh draining mix, maintaining the same planting depth.
- Propagation: Mature cane sections with nodes can root in water or lightly moist propagation mix in warm indirect light. Pot once roots and new shoots are established.
