Peperomia Owl Eye brings glossy, rounded, raindrop-like green leaves to a desk or bright shelf. Its tidy growth gives a small space a lush look without needing a large floor planter. Leaf size and exact shape vary from plant to plant.

Points of interest and size

  • One live Peperomia Owl Eye in a 4-inch nursery grow pot, listed at approximately 6 inches tall when shipped; actual height, fullness, and leaf count vary.
  • With suitable care, it can become a fuller tabletop plant, generally staying compact rather than growing into a tall tree. Mature size is not the shipping size.

Care guide

  • Light: Bright indirect light is ideal. Gentle morning sun may suit an acclimated plant; protect from harsh afternoon sun.
  • Water: Allow the upper part of the mix to dry between thorough waterings, then drain excess. Check the soil instead of watering on a fixed schedule; thick leaves can store some moisture, while constantly wet roots are vulnerable to rot.
  • Soil: Use an airy, well-draining houseplant mix with perlite in a pot with drainage holes.
  • Humidity and temperature: Average indoor humidity is usually suitable. Keep warm and away from cold drafts or hot, drying vents.
  • Feeding: During active spring and summer growth, use a balanced houseplant fertilizer diluted according to its label about monthly; reduce or pause in winter.
  • Pruning: Remove damaged leaves and trim leggy stems with clean scissors to encourage a tidy shape.
  • Repotting: When roots crowd the pot, move up one pot size with fresh draining mix; avoid an oversized container that stays wet too long.
  • Propagation: Healthy stem or leaf cuttings can root in lightly moist propagation mix under warm, bright indirect conditions; allow time for new growth.

Pet safety

Peperomia is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs. Keep decorative plants out of reach of pets that chew them.
