Areca Palm brings a fresh tropical feel to a bright indoor space with clustered stems and arching green foliage. Young plants have simpler, strap-like leaves; the more finely divided, feathery fronds associated with mature palms develop as the plant grows. Give it room to spread and enjoy its changing silhouette over time.

Points of interest

  • Multiple slender stems create a leafy, upright clump.
  • Juvenile foliage becomes more divided with maturity.
  • A bright-room accent that develops a fuller, arching display over time.
  • Leaf shape, height, and fullness vary with age and growing conditions.

Current and mature size

You receive one rooted palm in a 6-inch plastic nursery pot. Photos show representative young plants; height and fullness vary. This listing does not guarantee a shipping height because the source measurements are inconsistent. Indoors, a mature Areca Palm may reach approximately 6–8 feet tall with a broad spread under suitable conditions, though container size and growing conditions influence its eventual size.

Decorative pots and accessories shown in styled photos are not included and are sold separately.

Optional decorative planters

Explore the White BASEL 6-Inch Planter, Black BASEL 6-Inch Planter, White OSLO 6-Inch Planter, and Black OSLO 6-Inch Planter, each sold separately. Each has a 6.3-inch opening; measure your nursery pot's actual outside width to confirm fit. These planters have no drainage holes. For cover-pot use, remove the nursery pot for watering and let it drain completely before returning it. Do not leave standing water inside the decorative planter.

Care guide

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Gentle morning sun may be tolerated after gradual acclimation, but protect from harsh midday sun. Low light can slow growth and weaken the display.
  • Water: Let the surface of the mix begin to dry before watering thoroughly. Keep the root zone lightly moist rather than saturated, drain completely, and empty the saucer. Avoid prolonged complete drying or constantly wet roots. Adjust frequency to light, temperature, and season.
  • Soil: Use an airy, well-draining houseplant mix in a pot with drainage. Shop our Rich Houseplant Soil Blend, sold separately. Match watering to the mix's moisture retention and keep the stem bases at their existing planting depth.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active spring and summer growth. Shop our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents, sold separately. Follow its label, avoid overfeeding, and skip feeding while growth is paused or the plant is stressed by extreme heat or cold.
  • Temperature and humidity: Provide warm, stable indoor conditions away from cold drafts and drying vents. Moderate to higher humidity helps keep foliage looking its best. Use a humidifier if needed and maintain gentle airflow; occasional misting does not provide lasting humidity.
  • Maintenance: Remove fully dried fronds with clean tools, but retain healthy green growth. Do not cut the growing tips of healthy stems to reduce height. Repot when roots outgrow the container, using a modestly larger pot and handling roots gently. Check regularly for mites, especially in dry rooms.

Pet safety: Areca Palm is generally considered non-toxic to pets.
