White Christmas Cactus & Black BASEL Planter Bundle pairs jointed green stems and seasonal white flowers with a softly rounded black BASEL planter. Enjoy its arching foliage in a bright indoor spot, with flowers when growing conditions are right.

Points of interest

  • Selected for white flowers; flower appearance varies with growing conditions.
  • Jointed green stems develop an attractive arching habit.
  • One black BASEL 6-inch decorative planter is included.
  • A tropical forest cactus, not a full-sun desert cactus.
  • Bloom timing varies and is not guaranteed for a particular holiday.

What ships and estimated mature size

Includes one live white-flowering Christmas cactus in a 6-inch nursery pot and one black BASEL 6-inch planter. Pot diameter is not plant height. Height, spread, branching and bud development vary naturally. Buds and open blooms at delivery are not guaranteed; shipping or environmental changes can cause bud drop.

With suitable care, a mature plant may reach approximately 12–18 inches tall and 18–24 inches wide, with arching stems. Growth depends on age, light, pruning and container size.

Included planter and setup

The black BASEL planter has a 6.3-inch opening and no drainage hole. Check the nursery pot's actual width and height against the planter interior. Keep the cactus in its draining nursery pot, remove it for watering, let it drain completely, and empty collected water before returning it to the decorative planter. Only the black BASEL 6-inch planter is included in this version.

Care guide

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Gentle morning sun may suit an acclimated plant; protect from intense afternoon sun and hot glass.
  • Water: Water thoroughly when the upper inch of mix feels dry, then drain fully. Keep lightly moist during active growth without leaving roots saturated. Avoid prolonged desert-cactus drought routines and standing water in the outer planter.
  • Soil and drainage: Use an airy mix that drains freely while retaining some moisture. Our Succulent & Cactus Soil Blend is an optional supply, sold separately; monitor drying closely and adjust watering for this tropical cactus. Retain a nursery pot with drainage holes.
  • Temperature and humidity: Provide comfortable indoor temperatures, moderate humidity and airflow. Protect from frost, cold drafts, hot vents and sudden changes.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth according to label directions. Our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer is sold separately. Avoid doubling up on fertilizer in already-fed mix and reduce or pause feeding during rest and bud setting.
  • Encouraging flowers: In autumn, provide several weeks of uninterrupted long, dark nights and cooler nights without frost. Evening room lights can interfere with bud formation. Once buds develop, keep light, watering and temperature consistent and avoid repeatedly moving the plant.
  • Pruning and maintenance: After flowering, gently pinch or trim stem segments with clean tools to encourage branching. Remove spent blooms, inspect stem joints for pests and allow the plant to acclimate after arrival.
  • Repotting: Repot after flowering when roots fill the container, into a slightly larger draining pot. Avoid disturbing roots during bud development and recheck decorative-planter fit afterward.
  • Propagation: Healthy stem sections can be allowed to callus briefly before rooting in lightly moist, airy mix. Avoid saturated conditions.
  • Troubleshooting: Bud drop can follow shipping, drought or sudden environmental changes. Limp segments can indicate dry roots or overwatering, so check the mix before adding water. Soft stems with persistently wet soil warrant checking drainage.

Pet safety: Schlumbergera holiday cacti are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, but chewing plant material can cause stomach upset. Keep plants and potting mix out of reach.

The live plant and black BASEL planter are included. Additional soil, fertilizer and styling accessories are optional and sold separately.
