- The decorative planter is included in this bundle.
Current size and what ships
Includes one Ginseng Ficus Bonsai (Ficus microcarpa) grown in a 6-inch nursery pot and one white Oslo 6-inch planter. The 6-inch measurement refers to the nursery pot, not plant height. Plant height, branching and root shape vary naturally. Photos show a representative plant and the included planter.
Estimated mature size
Container-grown ginseng ficus can be maintained at approximately 1–3 feet tall with pruning. It may grow larger with time, a larger container and suitable conditions. Size and form depend on care and pruning.
Care guide
Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Gentle morning sun can be suitable after gradual acclimation. Avoid sudden exposure to intense afternoon sun.
Water: Water when the top 1–2 inches of mix feel dry. Water thoroughly and let the nursery pot drain completely before returning it to the Oslo planter. Never leave roots standing in collected water.
Soil and drainage: Use an airy, freely draining houseplant or bonsai mix. Keep drainage unobstructed and check the decorative planter after every watering.
Temperature and humidity: Keep warm and frost-free, away from cold drafts and heating vents. Ordinary indoor humidity is usually suitable; stable conditions help reduce leaf drop.
Feeding: Feed during active spring and summer growth according to your fertilizer's label. Reduce feeding during slower winter growth and avoid overfertilizing.
Pruning: Trim long shoots with clean tools to maintain the desired shape. Protect skin from the milky sap. Rotate periodically for balanced growth and wipe leaves gently to remove dust.
Repotting and arrival: Repot when roots crowd the nursery container, preferably during active growth. Allow time to settle after shipping; ficus may shed some leaves when light or location changes. Inspect regularly for pests.
Pet safety: Ficus microcarpa is not pet-safe. Its sap can irritate skin and mouth, and ingestion can cause stomach upset. Keep away from cats, dogs and children who may chew plants.
