Current size and what ships

Includes one live Swiss Cheese Plant (Monstera adansonii) grown in a 4-inch nursery pot and one white BASEL 4.7-inch planter. The 4-inch measurement refers to the nursery pot diameter, not the plant's height. Plant height, vine length, fullness and leaf perforations vary with each living plant. Plants and decorative planters may be packed separately for protection during shipping.

Estimated mature size

With suitable indoor care, vines can grow several feet long over time. Leaf size and overall growth depend on light, root space, care and whether the plant is given climbing support. Pruning can help maintain a compact display.

Care guide

Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun, which can scorch leaves. Dim conditions can slow growth and reduce leaf development.

Water: Check the potting mix and water when the top 1–2 inches feel dry. Water thoroughly through the nursery pot's drainage holes, allow it to drain fully, and return it to the decorative planter. Do not leave roots sitting in collected water. Adjust watering to the season and indoor conditions rather than following a fixed schedule.

Soil and drainage: Use a loose, well-draining houseplant mix. Keep the plant in a draining inner pot, and empty any water collected inside the BASEL planter after watering. Additional soil is sold separately.

Temperature: Keep in a warm indoor location, ideally around 65–85°F. Protect from frost, cold drafts and heating or air-conditioning vents.

Humidity: Moderate to higher indoor humidity supports healthy growth. If the air is very dry, consider a humidifier while maintaining good airflow.

Feeding: Feed lightly during active spring and summer growth, following the fertilizer label. Avoid fertilizing a stressed or very dry plant, and reduce feeding when growth slows. Our Slow-Release Fertilizer is an optional supply, sold separately and not included in this bundle.

Training and pruning: Let vines trail or provide a suitable pole or trellis, sold separately. Use clean scissors to trim leggy growth just above a node. Rotate the plant periodically for balanced growth.

Routine care: Gently wipe dusty leaves and check regularly for common houseplant pests. Allow time to acclimate after shipping. Repot into a slightly larger draining container when roots become crowded.

Pet safety: Monstera adansonii contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic if chewed by cats or dogs. Keep away from pets and children.
