Make room for the broad, sculptural leaves of an X-large Ficus lyrata bush. Its dark-green, leathery fiddle-shaped leaves and bushy branching habit make a strong focal point in a bright room. This is an established floor-sized plant, not a small starter.

Points of interest and size

  • One live Ficus lyrata bush approximately 2.5–3 feet tall in a 10-inch nursery grow pot; leaf count, branching and height vary naturally.
  • Estimated mature indoor height: about 6–10 feet with enough light, space and time; pruning can keep it shorter.
  • Broad, veined dark-green foliage creates a leafy, architectural silhouette.

Care guide

  • Light: Give abundant bright indirect or filtered light, and acclimate gradually to gentle direct morning sun. Avoid suddenly moving it into harsh midday sunlight; rotate occasionally for even growth.
  • Water: Check soil below the surface and water thoroughly when the top 2–3 inches dry, letting excess drain away. Do not leave the grow pot standing in water. A larger pot can dry more slowly, especially in winter.
  • Soil: Use a loose, well-draining indoor potting mix with perlite or fine bark in a container with drainage holes.
  • Humidity and temperature: Average to moderately humid indoor air is suitable. Keep warm and away from cold drafts, drying vents and abrupt placement changes.
  • Feeding: During active spring and summer growth, use balanced houseplant fertilizer diluted according to its label every 4–6 weeks; reduce or pause in winter.
  • Pruning: Remove damaged leaves with clean scissors and cut back a stem above a node to manage height and encourage branching. Avoid contact with the milky sap; wipe dust gently from leaves to help them receive light.
  • Repotting: Check roots every 1–2 years. When crowded, move up one pot size in spring with fresh draining mix, keeping the original planting depth; choose a stable pot that supports its height.
  • Propagation: A healthy stem cutting containing a node can root in warm, humid conditions in lightly moist propagation mix. Let roots establish before potting; a detached leaf without a node will not develop into a new plant.

What you receive

One live X-large fiddle-leaf fig bush in its 10-inch nursery grow pot. Decorative planters and furnishings in styled photos are not included.

Optional decorative planter

Shown styled with the black Basel 10.6-inch planter, sold separately. Measure the nursery pot’s outside width before ordering to confirm fit; a nominal 10-inch size does not guarantee it will sit inside the planter. Basel has no drainage hole. Remove the nursery pot to water, allow it to drain fully, then return it to the decorative planter.
