Trailing Jade Succulent, 4-Inch Pot
Trailing Jade is a branching succulent with fleshy oval leaves that shift from green toward purple with stronger sunlight. Young stems grow upright before arching outward, creating a relaxed, spreading display. Place it on a bright shelf or a sheltered patio where you can appreciate the contrast between its green stems and purple-blushed foliage.
Points of interest
- Thick oval leaves grow along branching, arching stems.
- Foliage stays greener in indirect light and may blush purple with brighter sun.
- Water-storing leaves suit a dry-between-waterings routine.
- Young plants may look upright; trailing and spreading growth develops as stems lengthen.
What ships and estimated mature size
You will receive one live Trailing Jade succulent in a 4-inch nursery pot. Stem length, branching, and foliage color vary naturally. The plant may arrive greener or more purple depending on growing conditions. Decorative pots, accessories, additional soil, and fertilizer are not included.
As it matures, allow approximately 12–24 inches of room for spreading or trailing stems, with further growth possible over time. This is an estimated display size rather than a guaranteed shipping length; light, pruning, and growing conditions affect the final shape.
Optional growing supplies
For future repotting, consider our Succulent & Cactus Soil Blend. Our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents is an optional feeding supply; follow its label directions and feed sparingly. Both are sold separately. Any terracotta pot shown in styling photos is a decorative prop, not the included nursery pot.
Care guide
- Light: Provide bright light and gradually acclimate to direct sun. Gentle morning sun is a useful starting point. Stronger light can bring out purple coloration, but sudden exposure to intense afternoon sun can scorch foliage.
- Water: Allow the mix to dry between thorough waterings, then let excess water drain completely. Check soil moisture instead of watering on a fixed calendar. Water less often during slower growth and never leave the pot standing in water.
- Soil and drainage: Use a fast-draining succulent mix and a pot with drainage holes. Avoid heavy, persistently wet soil and enclosed terrariums.
- Temperature and humidity: Keep warm and frost-free with good airflow. Ordinary indoor humidity is suitable; misting is unnecessary. Protect outdoor plants from prolonged rain and freezing weather.
- Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth, following the fertilizer label. Avoid overfeeding, combining multiple fertilizers, or fertilizing a stressed plant.
- Pruning: Trim overly long stems with clean scissors to shape the plant and encourage branching. Remove dried or damaged growth gently.
- Repotting: Repot when root-bound or when the mix stops draining well. Choose a draining pot only slightly larger than the root ball and support arching stems during handling.
- Propagation: Healthy stem cuttings can be allowed to callus before placing in a well-draining mix. Keep in bright indirect light and avoid saturation while roots establish.
Pet safety: Keep out of reach of pets and children; not intended for eating.
