Sempervivum ‘Cebenese’ Cobweb Succulent, 2-Inch Pot
Sempervivum ‘Cebenese’ brings unusual texture to sunny containers with rounded green and red rosettes covered in natural white, cobweb-like hairs. Compact leaves nest together in a ball-like form, while offsets can gradually create a low-growing colony. Color and rosette shape vary with light, season, and individual plant.
Points of interest
- Fine white hairs stretch between leaf tips, creating a natural cobweb effect.
- Green centers and reddish outer leaves offer seasonal color variation.
- Some plants have a single rosette; others develop multiple offsets.
- A sunny outdoor container or well-drained rock-garden setting showcases its compact habit.
Current and mature size
You receive one rooted plant in a 2-inch plastic nursery pot. Photos show representative plants; size, color, fullness, and offset count vary. Mature growth remains low, with rosettes growing to several inches across and the colony spreading through offsets as space and conditions allow.
Decorative pots and accessories shown in styled photos are not included and are sold separately.
Care guide
- Light: Provide a bright, sunny outdoor position. Introduce stronger sun gradually after shipping and offer some afternoon shade during extreme heat. Indoors, use your brightest suitable window and watch for stretching. Avoid enclosed, humid terrariums.
- Water: Let the potting mix dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Water the soil rather than soaking the rosette, and never leave the pot standing in water. Reduce watering in cool weather or slow growth.
- Soil: Use a gritty, fast-draining succulent mix and a pot with drainage holes. Shop our Succulent & Cactus Soil Blend, sold separately. Avoid heavy soil that stays wet.
- Feeding: During active spring and summer growth, feed with a slow-release fertilizer. Ready to feed? Shop our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents for steady nutrition for cacti and succulents. Skip feeding while growth is paused, extreme heat or cold. Fertilizer is sold separately; follow its label, use sparingly, and avoid overfeeding.
- Seasonal care: Provide good airflow and excellent drainage. Protect newly received plants from sudden temperature extremes. Cold-weather performance depends on local conditions and drainage, particularly in containers; avoid prolonged winter wetness.
- Maintenance: Gently remove dried lower leaves without stripping the natural webbing. Divide offsets once they develop roots. A rosette may flower once and then die back while surrounding offsets continue the colony.
Pet safety: Sempervivum is generally considered non-toxic to pets.
