Queen of the Night (Epiphyllum oxypetalum), 6-Inch Hanging Pot
Queen of the Night (Epiphyllum oxypetalum) grows broad, flattened green stems that arch and trail as the plant develops. This tropical orchid cactus is known for large, fragrant white flowers that open at night on mature plants under suitable conditions. Even between blooms, its wavy-edged stems create a distinctive hanging display.

Care guide
- Light: Provide bright, filtered light. Gentle morning sun may be suitable after gradual acclimation, but protect from harsh midday and afternoon sun. This is a tropical forest cactus, not a desert cactus for prolonged intense sun.
- Water: Water when the upper layer of mix begins to dry, then drain thoroughly. Avoid repeatedly drying the entire root ball during active growth, but never keep it constantly saturated or standing in water. Reduce frequency during cool weather or slow growth. Check moisture rather than automatically adding water because the weather is hot.
- Soil: Use a loose, airy orchid-cactus mix with drainage holes. Our Succulent & Cactus Soil Blend, sold separately, can be part of a suitable mix when combined with moisture-retentive organic material and bark as needed. Avoid dense soil and mixes that stay waterlogged or dry excessively fast for your conditions.
- Feeding: Feed lightly during active spring and summer growth. Shop our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents, sold separately. Follow its label, avoid overfeeding, and skip feeding while growth is paused or during extreme heat or cold. Fertilizer does not guarantee flowering.
- Temperature and humidity: Keep in a warm, frost-free setting with gentle airflow. Moderate humidity is helpful. Protect from cold drafts, sudden temperature extremes, and prolonged wet outdoor weather.
- Display and maintenance: Use a secure hanger rated for the watered container's weight, or a stable raised surface that gives stems room to arch. Additional supports and accessories are sold separately. Trim damaged or overly long stems with clean tools and repot when roots crowd the container.
Pet safety: Epiphyllum is generally considered non-toxic to pets.
