Give a shelf a little shimmer with Silver Splash Pothos. Its softly heart-shaped green leaves have distinctive irregular silvery splashes, and the slender stems can trail from a shelf or climb a support as they lengthen. Leaf markings, fullness and vine length vary naturally.

Points of interest and size

  • One live Silver Splash Pothos in a 4-inch nursery grow pot.
  • Compact at shipping, with vines that can mature to roughly 3–6 feet indoors if allowed to grow; trim them to suit your space.
  • Silver markings vary by leaf and are part of its appeal.

Care guide

  • Light: Bright indirect light helps keep the silver pattern distinct. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sun, which may scorch leaves; lower light can slow growth.
  • Water: Let the top 1–2 inches of soil dry before watering thoroughly. Allow excess to drain and do not leave the nursery pot standing in water. Reduce watering in cooler, dimmer months.
  • Soil: Use a loose, well-draining indoor potting mix with some perlite or orchid bark for aeration, in a pot with drainage holes.
  • Humidity and temperature: Moderate household humidity is suitable, with higher humidity helping keep new growth healthy. Keep warm and away from cold drafts or drying vents.
  • Feeding: During active spring and summer growth, apply a balanced houseplant fertilizer diluted according to its label about monthly. Reduce or pause in winter.
  • Pruning: Trim long vines just above a node to manage length and encourage branching. Remove yellow or damaged leaves with clean scissors; train stems onto a support if you prefer climbing growth.
  • Repotting: Check roots every 1–2 years. When crowded, move up one pot size into fresh draining mix, ideally in spring, keeping the original planting depth.
  • Propagation: Take a healthy vine cutting with at least one node, remove leaves that would sit below water or soil, and root the node in water or moist, airy mix in warm indirect light. Pot rooted cuttings once roots are established.
