Nematanthus ‘Candy Corn’ Flowering Houseplant, 6-Inch Hanging Pot
Nematanthus ‘Candy Corn’ combines glossy green leaves with branching stems that can spill over a hanging pot. Seasonal red-orange flowers add playful color when the plant is blooming. Its dense foliage makes an attractive display even between flowering periods, especially beside a bright window.
Points of interest
- Small, shiny green leaves along branching, gently trailing stems.
- Red-orange flowers may develop with suitable light and growing conditions; blooms are not guaranteed at shipping.
- A natural choice for hanging displays or a bright shelf where stems have room to drape.
- Fullness, stem length, and flowering vary with season and individual plant.
Current and mature size
You receive one rooted plant in a 6-inch plastic hanging nursery pot. The imported listing describes plants approximately 10–12 inches tall; size varies, and the hanging hardware is not a mature plant-size measurement. Over time, stems can grow approximately 2–3 feet long with suitable conditions, or be trimmed to maintain a fuller, compact display. Photos show representative plants.
Optional decorative planters
For tabletop styling, explore the White BASEL 6-Inch Planter, Black BASEL 6-Inch Planter, White OSLO 6-Inch Planter, and Black OSLO 6-Inch Planter. Decorative planters and other styling accessories are sold separately, not included with the plant. Each planter has a 6.3-inch opening; compare the actual outside width of the hanging nursery pot, including its rim and attachment points, before ordering. These planters have no drainage holes. For cover-pot use, remove the nursery pot to water and let it drain before returning it. Do not suspend a tabletop planter from the nursery pot's hanger.
Care guide
- Light: Provide bright, indirect light near a suitable window. Gentle morning light may be tolerated after gradual acclimation, but protect from harsh midday sun. Low light can reduce flowering and produce stretched growth.
- Water: Water when the surface of the mix begins to dry, then let excess drain fully. Keep the root zone lightly moist rather than constantly saturated; do not allow prolonged complete drying or leave the pot standing in water. Adjust frequency to light, temperature, and season.
- Soil: Use an airy, well-draining houseplant mix in a pot with drainage. Our Rich Houseplant Soil Blend, sold separately, is an option for repotting; maintain aeration and adjust watering to the mix's moisture retention.
- Feeding: Feed lightly during active spring and summer growth. Shop our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents, sold separately. Follow the label, avoid overfeeding, and skip feeding while growth is paused or the plant is stressed by extreme heat or cold. Do not combine multiple fertilizers without accounting for their total dose.
- Temperature and humidity: Provide warm, stable indoor conditions, away from cold drafts and heating vents. Moderate to higher humidity can help, but airflow matters. A humidifier is more consistent than occasional misting; avoid leaving foliage wet for prolonged periods.
- Maintenance and flowering: Pinch or lightly trim elongated stems to encourage branching. Remove spent flowers and dried leaves. Adequate light supports flowering, but bloom timing and abundance vary naturally.
Pet safety: Nematanthus is generally considered non-toxic to pets.
