Gold Flame Snake Plant adds bold contrast to an indoor shelf or table with stiff, upright leaves patterned in deep green and golden yellow. Its compact rosettes create a sculptural, flame-like display, and its water-storing leaves make it a good choice for growers who prefer less frequent watering.

Points of interest

  • Thick, pointed leaves with striking green-and-yellow markings.
  • Compact rosettes provide a structured accent without sprawling vines.
  • Tolerates lower light, but grows best with brighter indirect light.
  • Color, leaf arrangement, and the number of rosettes vary naturally.

Current and estimated mature size

You receive one rooted plant in a 6-inch nursery pot. The source listing estimates current plants at approximately 8–12 inches tall or more; size and fullness vary, and photos are representative. The source estimates potential mature growth beyond 2 feet under favorable conditions, though container conditions and the individual plant's compact habit affect eventual size. This is not a shipping or mature-height guarantee.

Optional decorative planters

Consider our White BASEL, Black BASEL, White OSLO, or Black OSLO. Decorative planters are sold separately; the plant ships in its nursery pot. Each has a 6.3-inch opening. Compare the actual outside rim diameter and height of your nursery pot before choosing a cover pot. BASEL and OSLO have no drainage holes; retain a removable inner pot with drainage rather than planting directly into them.

Care guide

  • Light: Provide bright indirect light. Lower light is tolerated but slows growth and reduces water use. Acclimate gradually to any gentle direct sun, and avoid sudden exposure to harsh sun.
  • Water: Let the potting mix dry throughout before watering thoroughly and draining completely. Check deeper moisture, not just the surface. Water less in lower light, cool weather, or slow growth. Never leave the pot standing in water, and avoid collecting water in the leaf rosettes.
  • Soil: Use an airy, fast-draining mix in a pot with drainage holes. Shop our Succulent & Cactus Soil Blend, sold separately. Avoid dense, persistently wet soil.
  • Temperature: Keep warm and frost-free, away from cold drafts and cold wet soil. Normal warm indoor conditions are suitable.
  • Humidity: Typical indoor humidity is suitable. No routine misting is needed; provide gentle airflow.
  • Feeding: Feed sparingly during active spring and summer growth. Our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents is sold separately. Follow the label, avoid combining fertilizer schedules, and skip feeding during paused growth, root stress, or extreme heat or cold.
  • Maintenance and repotting: Wipe leaves gently to remove dust. Remove damaged leaves at the base with clean tools; cut leaf tips do not regrow their original shape. Repot when crowded roots warrant it into a modestly larger draining pot. Division is a way to preserve the parent's variegated appearance; leaf cuttings may not retain the same markings.
  • Cover-pot watering: Remove the nursery pot from BASEL or OSLO before watering. Let it drain fully, empty collected water, and return it only after drainage stops.

Pet safety: Snake plants are toxic to cats and dogs if eaten and can cause digestive upset. Keep away from pets that chew plants.
