Green Coral Euphorbia (Euphorbia flanaganii ‘Cristata’) forms sculptural green crests with wavy, folded ridges. Its unusual fan-shaped growth gives a small succulent display plenty of texture. Each crested plant develops its own shape, so no two look exactly alike.

Points of interest and size

  • One live Green Coral Euphorbia in a 4-inch nursery grow pot. Current height, crest shape, and fullness vary naturally.
  • Slow-growing crests gradually broaden into irregular clusters with age. Mature spread varies with the crest and growing conditions; the nursery pot size is not a mature-size promise.
  • A succulent Euphorbia, not a true cactus. Handle carefully because damaged stems release irritating milky sap.

Care guide

  • Light: Provide bright light with gentle direct sun after gradual acclimation. Protect from sudden intense afternoon sun and heat through glass. Low light can weaken growth.
  • Water: Let the mix dry substantially between waterings, then water thoroughly and allow excess to drain. Avoid water collecting in the folded crests or leaving roots in standing water. Reduce frequency during cool, dim conditions or inactivity.
  • Soil: Use a fast-draining succulent mix in a pot with drainage holes. Shop our Succulent & Cactus Soil Blend, hand-blended in small batches and sold separately; amend with pumice or perlite as needed for drainage.
  • Temperature and humidity: Warm conditions and average to low household humidity suit it. Provide airflow, protect from frost and freezing conditions, and avoid persistently wet, humid conditions.
  • Feeding: Feed sparingly during active growth according to fertilizer label directions. Shop our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents, sold separately. Avoid overfeeding; reduce or pause during winter or inactivity and extreme heat or cold. Avoid feeding stressed or newly repotted plants.
  • Pruning: Routine pruning is usually unnecessary. Handle crests gently to avoid breakage. If cutting damaged growth is necessary, wear gloves and eye protection, avoid contact with milky sap, and keep tools away from children and pets.
  • Repotting: When roots crowd the pot or the mix breaks down, move up one pot size during active growth into fresh fast-draining mix. Keep the original planting depth and avoid a much larger volume of wet soil.
  • Propagation: Crested stem cuttings may root, but this is best left to experienced growers because of the irritating sap and risk of rot. Use protective gloves and eye protection, allow cut surfaces to dry and callus, then place in airy succulent mix. Seed-grown plants may not retain the crest.

Pet safety

Not safe for pets or children. Euphorbia’s milky sap can irritate skin and cause serious eye irritation; ingestion can be harmful. Keep out of reach, avoid touching damaged stems, and seek veterinary or medical help after exposure.
