Epiphyllum Guatemalense Monstrose Orchid Cactus, 6-Inch Hanging Pot
Epiphyllum Guatemalense Monstrose Orchid Cactus creates a distinctive hanging display with flattened green stems that twist, curl, and turn as they grow. Its irregular, wavy-edged growth brings lively texture to a bright indoor space or sheltered patio. The listing name follows the source, and each plant develops its own arrangement of curls.
Points of interest
- Flattened green stems with wavy edges and irregular curling growth.
- Arching and trailing stems suited to a hanging container.
- A tropical forest cactus rather than a desert cactus.
- Stem shape, length, and fullness vary naturally; flowers are not guaranteed at shipping.
Current and mature size
You receive one rooted plant in a 6-inch plastic hanging nursery pot with a nursery hanger. Photos show representative plants; stem number, length, and curl vary. Over time, branching stems can create a broader trailing display. A reliable mature size has not been confirmed for this form; growing conditions and pruning influence its eventual dimensions.
Decorative pots and additional accessories shown in styled photos are not included and are sold separately.
Care guide
- Light: Provide bright, filtered light. Gentle morning sun may be suitable after gradual acclimation, but protect from harsh midday and afternoon sun. Avoid prolonged intense sun intended for desert cacti.
- Water: Water when the upper layer of mix begins to dry, then drain thoroughly. Avoid repeatedly drying the entire root ball during active growth, but never keep it constantly saturated or standing in water. Reduce frequency during cool weather or slow growth. Check moisture rather than automatically adding water because the weather is hot.
- Soil: Use a loose, airy orchid-cactus mix with drainage holes. Our Succulent & Cactus Soil Blend, sold separately, can be part of a suitable mix when combined with moisture-retentive organic material and bark as needed. Avoid dense soil and mixes that stay waterlogged or dry excessively fast for your conditions.
- Feeding: Feed lightly during active spring and summer growth. Shop our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents, sold separately. Follow its label, avoid overfeeding, and skip feeding while growth is paused or during extreme heat or cold. Fertilizer does not guarantee flowering.
- Temperature and humidity: Keep in a warm, frost-free setting with gentle airflow. Moderate humidity is helpful. Protect from cold drafts, sudden temperature extremes, and prolonged wet outdoor weather.
- Display and maintenance: Use a secure hanger rated for the watered container's weight, or a stable raised surface that gives stems room to arch. Additional supports and accessories are sold separately. Handle curling stems gently; trim damaged or overly long growth with clean tools and repot when roots crowd the container.
Pet safety: Epiphyllum is generally considered non-toxic to pets.
