Dracaena Limelight brings a vivid hit of lime green to a desk or bright shelf. Long, glossy, strap-shaped leaves arch out from its upright stems, making a fresh contrast with darker houseplants. This is a young tabletop plant in its shipping pot, with the potential to grow into a taller indoor accent.

Points of interest and size

  • One live Dracaena Limelight in a 4-inch nursery grow pot; current height, leaf shape and fullness vary naturally.
  • Estimated mature indoor height: about 3–6 feet with suitable light, space and time; prune to manage its height.
  • Bright chartreuse-to-lime foliage and a gently arching upright form.

Care guide

  • Light: Give bright indirect or filtered light to maintain its vivid color. It can tolerate somewhat lower light but may grow more slowly; avoid prolonged harsh direct sun.
  • Water: Let the upper half of the potting mix dry before watering thoroughly, then let excess drain. Avoid consistently soggy roots and reduce watering in winter.
  • Soil: Use a loose, well-draining indoor potting mix with perlite in a pot with drainage holes.
  • Humidity and temperature: Average household humidity is usually suitable. Keep warm and away from cold drafts and hot drying vents.
  • Feeding: During spring and summer growth, apply balanced houseplant fertilizer diluted according to its label every 6–8 weeks. Reduce or pause in winter.
  • Pruning: Remove yellow or damaged leaves with clean scissors. If a cane grows too tall, cut it back above a node to encourage new shoots; rotate the pot for even growth.
  • Repotting: Check roots every 1–2 years. If crowded, move up one pot size in fresh draining mix and keep the original planting depth.
  • Propagation: Stem cane sections with nodes can root in warm, lightly moist propagation mix or water in bright indirect light. Pot them once roots and new growth are established.
