Blue Woolly Rose Echeveria FO-42 forms a compact rosette of fleshy blue-green leaves covered with fine pale hairs. Its softly textured foliage, pointed leaf tips, and occasional reddish edging bring a different look from smooth-leaved Blue Rose echeverias.

Points of interest

  • Fine hairs give the leaves their woolly appearance; handle gently to protect their surface.
  • Blue-green rosettes can develop warmer leaf-edge tones with light and season, but coloration varies naturally.
  • Orange flowers may appear on raised stalks when the plant blooms. Flower stalks in the original photos are seasonal and are not guaranteed with your order.

What ships and estimated mature size

You receive one live, rooted Blue Woolly Rose Echeveria FO-42 in a 2-inch nursery pot. The pot measurement is not the rosette diameter. Exact height, rosette size, leaf count, and fullness vary naturally; photographs are representative. Decorative terracotta pots and furnishings shown for styling are sold separately and are not included.

With suitable care, the rosette may grow to several inches across and develop a wider cluster through offsets over time. Mature size depends on light, root space, and growing conditions; it is not the shipping size.

Care guide

  • Light: Provide very bright light with gentle direct sun after gradual acclimation. Protect from sudden intense afternoon sun, particularly behind hot glass. Stretching or an open, loose rosette can indicate insufficient light.
  • Water: Allow the potting mix to dry completely through the root zone before watering thoroughly. Direct water onto the soil, not into the rosette or onto the fuzzy leaves. Drain fully and empty the saucer. Check moisture rather than watering on a fixed schedule.
  • Soil: Use a gritty, fast-draining succulent mix and a container with drainage holes. Our Succulent & Cactus Soil Blend is sold separately. Add a suitable mineral amendment if your conditions require faster drying.
  • Temperature: Protect this small potted plant from frost, prolonged cold dampness, extreme heat, and extended rain. A sheltered patio is suitable when conditions allow.
  • Humidity: Average household humidity and gentle airflow are appropriate. Avoid misting, enclosed humid terrariums, and leaving the hairy foliage wet.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth, following label directions for succulents and the small pot size. Our 2 oz Slow-Release Fertilizer for Houseplants & Succulents is sold separately. Do not combine full doses of fertilizers or feed stressed or resting plants.
  • Seasonal care: Reduce watering when cool weather, lower light, or extreme heat slows growth. Judge water needs by the root zone and plant condition, not the calendar alone.
  • Grooming: Handle by the pot and avoid rubbing or scrubbing the fuzzy leaf surface. Remove fully dry lower leaves gently when they release easily. Trim spent flower stalks with clean scissors.
  • Repotting: Repot when crowded or drainage deteriorates into a draining pot only slightly larger than the roots. Keep the rosette above the soil line and avoid unnecessary repotting immediately after arrival.
  • Propagation: Healthy offsets or stem cuttings may root after their cut surfaces dry and callus. Leaf propagation can be attempted, but success varies. Avoid keeping unrooted material wet.
  • Pests and problems: Inspect leaf bases for mealybugs. Isolate affected plants and use labeled treatments, testing a small area first because sprays can mark fuzzy foliage. Soft or translucent leaves and a dark, wet base can indicate excess moisture; check roots and drainage before adding water.
  • After arrival: Unpack gently, check moisture, and introduce stronger light gradually. Allow the plant to settle before unnecessary repotting.

Pet safety: Echeverias are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, but are not intended to be eaten. Keep potting mix, fertilizers, and plant-care products out of reach.
