Shark Fin Snake Plant (Sansaveria masoniana), 6-Inch Pot

Shark Fin Snake Plant (Sansevieria masoniana) makes a bold, sculptural accent with its broad upright leaf and mottled shades of green.

Shipping size

One live Shark Fin Snake Plant in a 6-inch nursery grow pot, listed at approximately 12–18 inches tall at shipment. In time, under suitable growing conditions, individual leaves can become taller, potentially around 3 feet; that is a growth possibility, not the size shipped.

Care guide

• Light: Bright indirect light encourages sturdy growth; it can tolerate lower light but may grow more slowly. Introduce gentle direct sun gradually and avoid scorching afternoon exposure.
• Water: Let the potting mix dry substantially between thorough waterings, then drain completely. Water less often in cool or low-light months. Keeping roots wet is a greater risk than occasional dryness.
• Soil: Use a loose, fast-draining cactus or succulent-style mix in a pot with drainage holes.
• Humidity and temperature: Typical indoor humidity suits it. Keep away from freezing temperatures and cold drafts.
• Feeding: Feed lightly with diluted balanced houseplant fertilizer during active spring and summer growth, about every 6–8 weeks if needed; reduce in winter.
• Pruning: Brown tips may be trimmed; cut leaves will not regrow their pointed tip.
• Repotting: When roots crowd the pot, move one size up into a draining mix; avoid an oversized container that stays wet.
• Propagation: Established plants may form offsets that can be separated with roots. Leaf cuttings are another option but take patience.

Pet safety

Snake plants are toxic to cats and dogs if eaten. Keep this plant out of reach of pets that chew foliage.
