Pickle Plant (Delosperma echinatum) gets its name from the little green, pickle-shaped leaves covered in soft, glistening bumps. Its stems can spread and gently trail, bringing playful texture to a bright shelf or windowsill. You’ll receive one live rooted plant in a 4-inch plastic grow pot; decorative terracotta pots in styled photos are props and are not included.

Size and growth: Ships rooted in a 4-inch grow pot. Stems can branch and spill outward as the plant grows; mature spread and the fullness of your individual plant depend on light and care. Small yellow blooms may appear under favorable conditions, but flowering is not guaranteed and your plant may arrive without flowers.

Care guide

  • Light: Give bright light with some gentle direct sun. Acclimate gradually to stronger sun and protect from harsh sudden exposure.
  • Water: Water thoroughly after the mix has dried well, allowing excess to drain. Check more often in active growth, but do not keep soil constantly moist or let the pot stand in water.
  • Soil: Use a gritty, fast-draining succulent mix in a container with drainage holes.
  • Temperature: Protect a potted plant from frost and prolonged cold, wet weather.
  • Feeding: Feed sparingly with diluted succulent fertilizer during active growth if desired.
  • Pruning: Trim leggy or damaged stems with clean scissors to maintain shape.
  • Repotting: Move to a slightly larger draining pot when roots fill the current one, handling stems gently.
  • Propagation: Healthy stem cuttings can root in a fast-draining mix after cut surfaces have dried.

Pet and child safety: Delosperma echinatum is considered non-toxic to pets. Keep the plant out of reach of young children to avoid accidental chewing.
