Balloon Cactus (Notocactus magnificus), 2.5-Inch Pot

Balloon Cactus (Notocactus magnificus) is a rounded, ribbed cactus with a blue-green body and rows of golden spines. Its bold geometric shape makes a striking accent on a sunny windowsill. As it grows, it may become taller and produce offsets; mature plants can flower under suitable conditions.

Size & what you’ll receive

Ships as a live cactus growing in a 2.5-inch nursery pot. The plant's exact height and width vary. With time it can grow substantially larger than the plant you receive; mature size depends on conditions and container space. Decorative pots shown in styled photos are props and are not included.

Care guide

• Light: Give bright light and several hours of direct sun, introducing stronger sun gradually to avoid scorching.
• Water: Water thoroughly only after the mix has dried out, then let it drain completely. Water much less often during cool or low-light months.
• Soil: Use a gritty, fast-draining cactus mix in a pot with drainage.
• Temperature & humidity: Keep warm, protect from frost, and provide good airflow. Ordinary indoor humidity is suitable.
• Feeding: Feed sparingly during active growth with diluted cactus fertilizer according to the label.
• Pruning & handling: Pruning is generally unnecessary. Wear gloves or use folded paper when handling its sharp spines.
• Repotting: Repot when crowded, into a slightly larger draining pot; avoid overpotting.
• Propagation: Established offsets may be separated after the cut surfaces have callused; seed propagation is also possible.

Pet and child safety: Sharp spines can injure pets and children. Keep out of reach; do not allow the plant to be eaten.
